AoA DVD Copy is a well designed and developed application for making backups of your DVD collection. It provides all the features you need to make quick copies of your discs and forms part of a suite of tools for ripping and burning movies to other formats. Even complete novices will manage to make a good quality backup.
AoA DVD Copy has all the features you need to make good quality DVD movie backups. It can quickly (in as little as 20 minutes) make a copy of pretty much any DVD movie you can give it. You have the option to copy straight from disc to disc, from dual layer disc to single layer disc or from dual layer to two single layer discs. Compressing the movie to one single layer disc loses some quality and possibly some of the extra features of your movie, but there is not much of a noticeable loss compared to splitting it onto two discs. In addition you can also backup a movie to an image on your hard drive to be burned at a later time.
AoA DVD Copy has a built in decrypter which can remove CSS Encryption (the most common kind on commercial DVD releases) from all your backups. Backups will also be region free so that they can work in any standard DVD player. The copies we made were all very good quality and completed pretty quickly. If you want to do anything else with your movies, AoA DVD Copy is part of a suite of tools which help you convert the movie to different formats compatible with devices like the iPod.
The user interface AoA DVD Copy provides is very well designed and very easy to use. It is clear to see some thought has gone into the layout and plenty of work has gone into creating the buttons and icons. It's as simple as selecting a source, a target and deciding whether you want to copy the whole disc or just the main movie.
We would recommend AoA DVD Copy over a large number of the other products in this category. It is similarly priced to many of them, but of a far higher quality and discounts can be found if you buy more than one application in the suite at the same time. A free trial is also available so there's no excuse for not giving it a try.
