Droppix Recorder is a well designed and easy to use burning application. It supports burning a variety of different types of discs, such as audio CD, DVD and Blu-ray through a simple wizard-like interface. Also included is a designer so that you can create your own labels for the cases of your backup DVD as well as being able to print directly onto LightScribe discs.
Droppix Recorder handles most of the tasks you will ever want to do where burning is concerned. It can burn different types of disc - like audio CDs, VCDs, data discs etc - as well as letting you copy straight from disc to disc. It doesn't support backing up copy protected movies like some other products in this category so you won't be able to copy any of your DVD movie collection with this application. If you want to be able to do that there are plenty of products in our top ten that will help you.
Copying and burning is very easy with Droppix recorder thanks to the very simple wizard style interface which leads you through all the steps necessary to create the type of disc you want. The interface has been designed well and uses some eye-catching graphics and icons to illustrate the different functions of the application. Help is available along the way in the handy sidebar and the application comes in a variety of different language versions.
A useful addition to the software is a 'lite' version of Droppix's label creation software. This doesn't have all the features of the standalone version, but should do everything you need to create some basic labels for your backup discs. It's also very easy to use and can print directly onto Lightscribe discs if you have the right hardware.
Droppix Recorder is a well designed and very useful application for burning CDs, DVDs or Blu-ray discs. Even complete novices will manage to work through the wizard interface and create good quality discs. The price is slightly on the high side, but isn't too unreasonable, and there is a free trial available so that you can make your own mind up.
