DVD2One is a fast and efficient DVD copying tool with a variety of options for making good quality copies of all your DVD movies. It is well supported online and is consistently updated to add new features so is worth a look if you are thinking of backing up your DVD collection.
DVD2One is one of the fastest copying tools we have looked at. It can take advantage of multiple processors with multiple cores to make the copying process even faster, and can even be used in grid processing mode to make use of a network of computers. Combined with the fact it can be set to batch process up to 15 discs at once there is a fairly heavy duty copying application here. We aren't sure quite who would want to do all of these things, but it proves there's a market for everything!
As well as the impressive technical side of DVD2One the software also provides the usual DVD copying features. You can make exact 1:1 copies, compress a dual layer disc to a single layer DVDR or split a dual layer disc between 2 single layer DVDR (or one double sided DVDR). The backups you make will be region free and the application can remove most types of copy protection - although there are a few posts on the forum claiming it hasn't worked on some movies. The copies we tried worked fine and were good quality on our standard TV.
The user interface for DVD2One is nothing special, but it looks OK and gives you easy access to all the functionality. It is possible to change the compression settings in order to get your desired output file size to fit on the disc you want to burn to. Unusually for most DVD copying tools DVD2One also provides a Mac version which contains most of the same functionality. This makes it especially interesting to Mac users who don't have much choice when it comes to DVD backups.
In all, DVD2One is a fairly decent DVD copying utility and is updated frequently so no doubt more features will be added soon. The price is slightly on the high side, but this can be justified if you really need a batch processing option or a Mac version as not many products offer these. It's also possible to get a trial version download to check whether the software suits your needs so we recommend giving it a try.
