DVD Cloner Pro is a very average DVD copying tool, not to be confused with the very good DVD Cloner (not pro) that is in our top ten. This application allows you to do straight forward copies of DVDs, but not much else, and the quality we got wasn't great.
The world of DVD copying software can be quite confusing if you don't keep your eye on the ball the whole time. What we mean is that there is a sub-category of these applications which seem to try and trick people into thinking they are better than they are by adopting names very similar to the quality applications. Now we wouldn't want to say that this is what DVD Cloner Pro is doing, but it does seem a bit dubious to stick a 'pro' onto the end of the name of an established title and sell your wares that way.
What adds even more suspicion is that the DVD Cloner Pro web site provides very little information on the product itself and no more than an email address in terms of support. However, in the interests of good reviewing we tried out the software and are happy to report that our suspicions were correct. Although the software did copy our test DVD we couldn't get it to run on either a standalone DVD player or the DVD drive in our computer. An email to support solicited no response so that was pretty much it for DVD Cloner Pro.
You don't get any customization options with DVD Cloner Pro and it can't even compress a dual layer DVD to a single layer DVD - which we have come to expect from this type of software. Its one saving grace is that it has a built in decrypter to remove copy protection - but of course our copy didn't work so we can't say much about the quality of it.
In case you haven't already guessed we recommend staying well away from DVD Cloner Pro. The price, at $49.95, is extortionate when you can purchase quality products in our top ten for $20 less. It seems someone is just out to try and make a quick buck so whatever you do don't go near this product. Have a look at some of the applications in our top ten instead.
